🎵Songs We Couldn't Shake

  • The Krelboyne class song — written and performed by Dewey Wilkerson
  • "Eye of the Tiger" — played before every Quiz Bowl match, per Reese
  • Whatever Reese was humming in the lunch line (still unidentified)
  • The Spring Play finale — you had to be there

🎬Moments We'll Never Forget

  • The Spring Play — Francis Wilkerson remembered most of his lines
  • Dewey's east wing mural unveiling drew the biggest crowd since the fire drill
  • Film Friday: the gym projector worked for one full showing
  • The cooking invitational — nobody saw Reese coming

💬Things People Actually Said

  • {"text"=>"\"That's not right, Mr. Herkabe.\"", "by"=>"Malcolm Wilkerson, repeatedly", "person"=>"malcolm-wilkerson"}
  • {"text"=>"\"Malcolm... is... wrong.\"", "by"=>"Stevie Kenarban, the one time it counted", "person"=>"stevie-kenarban"}
  • "I don't have to listen to you!" — heard daily near the 4th-grade tables
  • "We'll discuss this at home." — Lois Wilkerson, via the front office intercom
  • {"text"=>"\"My mother will be calling about this.\"", "by"=>"Dabney Hooper", "person"=>"dabney-hooper"}

📰In the News

  • Krelboyne gifted class reached the regional Quiz Bowl semifinals
  • Reese Wilkerson placed 2nd at the district cooking invitational
  • Principal Block's coffee maker was never recovered
  • The new playground equipment survived exactly three weeks intact
  • Caroline Miller's substitute class attempted to stage a walkout (unsuccessful)

⭐School Highlights

  • Science Fair — Malcolm Wilkerson's entry was disqualified for 'exceeding scope'
  • Quiz Bowl semifinals — the Krelboynes took 2nd, then disputed the scoring
  • Dewey Wilkerson's mural now covers the entire east hallway
  • Field Day relay race — won by Reese Wilkerson by a suspicious margin
  • Spelling Bee champion: Stevie Kenarban (the audience had time to settle in)

Dedications & Ads

Malcolm Wilkerson
Malcolm Wilkerson
Malcolm — we watched you spend an entire weekend proving your teacher's equation had a second valid solution. You were right. You're always right. Somehow that still makes things harder, not easier. We love you more than you'll ever fully calculate.

— Hal & Lois Wilkerson

Reese Wilkerson
Reese Wilkerson
Reese — you have surprised every teacher, coach, and food critic who ever underestimated you. Keep cooking. Keep competing. Just please stop putting anonymous notes in the principal's suggestion box. We know it's you. We love you anyway.

— Hal & Lois Wilkerson

Stevie Kenarban
Stevie Kenarban
Stevie — your quiet determination, your bone-dry humor, and the way you take your time and get it exactly right every time make every room you're in better. The world is lucky to have you in it.

— Abe & Kitty Kenarban

Dewey Wilkerson
Dewey Wilkerson
Dewey — keep painting, keep composing, keep being exactly who you are. The east wing will never be the same. (The administration has mixed feelings about that. We do not.)

— Hal & Lois Wilkerson

Victoria Adams
Victoria Adams
Victoria — "Every ending is just a new beginning." We believe every word of it. Congratulations, graduate!

— The Adams Family

Frankie Wilkerson
Frankie Wilkerson
Francis — from Marlin Academy and back home to North Hollywood Elementary, the long way around. We couldn't be prouder, Frankie.

— Hal & Lois Wilkerson

To the graduating class: you have exceeded my expectations — which were, as always, quite high. Most of you. You know who you are. I expect thank-you notes.

— Mr. Herkabe

Thank you, North Hollywood Elementary faculty and staff, for another year of patience, creativity, and only three calls to the fire department. You make this community shine.

— The PTA

2025–2026

North Hollywood Elementary Yearbook

How to save and submit your yearbook to a book printing service

Step 1 — Generate the PDF

  1. Click the Print / Save as PDF button at the top of this page (or use your browser's print shortcut: Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux, ⌘P on Mac).
  2. In the print dialog, set the Destination (or Printer) to "Save as PDF".
  3. Apply these settings for book-quality output:
    • Paper size: US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) — commonly used for yearbooks and accepted by most print services
    • Scale: 100% (do not check "Fit to page")
    • Margins: None (margins are already built into this page)
    • Background graphics: ✅ Enabled — required so background colors print
    • Headers and footers: Disabled (uncheck if your browser adds page numbers automatically)
  4. Click Save. Your PDF will download.

For the sharpest portraits, make sure your original photos are at least 300 dpi (pixels per inch). Print quality depends on the resolution of your source images — higher-resolution photos will reproduce much more clearly in the finished book.

Step 2 — Choose a book printing service

Several print-on-demand services accept uploaded PDFs with no minimum order:

  • Lulu.com — Free to set up. Upload a PDF, choose binding (perfect-bound or coil), and order as few or as many copies as you need. Accepts US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), RGB color PDF.
  • Blurb — Offers 8.5 × 11 in magazine and book formats. Upload via their PDF upload tool. Accepts RGB PDF; they recommend PDF/X-1a for color accuracy.
  • Printing for Less — Professional print shop with volume pricing. Good for larger orders (20+ copies).

Step 3 — Submit to Lulu (example walkthrough)

  1. Create a free account at lulu.com.
  2. Click "Create" → "Print Book".
  3. Choose your specifications:
    • Size: 8.5 × 11 in
    • Binding: Perfect Bound (square spine, looks most like a real yearbook) or Coil Bound (lies flat when open)
    • Paper: Standard Color (60 lb) or Premium Color (70 lb) for richer photos
    • Cover: Matte or Glossy — glossy is traditional for yearbooks
  4. Upload the PDF you generated in Step 1 as the interior file.
  5. Design or upload a cover image for the front and back cover (Lulu provides a cover creator tool).
  6. Preview, set your price (or order at cost for the school), and add to cart.
  7. Lulu prints and ships directly to you, typically within 5–10 business days.

Tips for the best results

  • Page count: Most print services require an even number of pages. If your PDF has an odd number of pages, add a blank page at the end.
  • Bleed: This PDF uses a 0.75 in safe margin on all sides — well within the bleed requirements for standard print services.
  • Proof first: Order one copy to check color and quality before ordering in bulk.
  • Color mode: This PDF uses RGB color. Lulu and Blurb accept RGB; if your service requires CMYK, you can convert the PDF using Adobe Acrobat or a free tool such as ilovepdf.com.
  • Font embedding: When you print to PDF from Chrome or Firefox, all fonts are automatically embedded — no extra steps needed.
